On May 13th, Dr.Concannon presented a seminar to the Bariatric Weight Loss Support Group in Boone County Hospital. The support group contains members that are considering or have already had Bariatric surgery.
Dr.Concannon spoke about cosmetic options following a Bariatric procedure. Most gastric bypass patients are not prepared for the way their bodies will look after a large weight loss. The skin loses its elasticity causing droopiness in areas such as the arms, breasts, thighs, and midsection.
This patient successfully lost over 100 pounds, but was very unhappy with the excess skin of her upper arms. A brachioplasty was performed on an outpatient basis: she was able to return to her own home right after surgery. Her post-operative pictures show her results at six months after her procedure with Dr.Concannon.
